I enjoy your site beyond superlatives. To find a place where
the brain is recognized as a part of God's wonderful creation, where intellect
is valued as a tool in the Faith and where those who have been brought
up to use their intelligence are not ridiculed and suspected of undermining
the church is a great joy.
I have recently been appointed to the post of "Adult Education Adviser" to the YYY and with your permission would hope to use some of the excellent material available on the Tank.
Keep up the good work - as things progress we may post some of our own questions and arguments as the work of firing up adult thinkers progresses.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Just wanted to say I love your Thinktank page! The critical thought is excellent, the wit keeps it refreshing, and your challenge to "mind-to-mind combat" with skeptics makes this material a must-read for those who are intimidated by pseudo-science and supposed "intellectualism". I am recommending Thinktank to all inquirers!!
---------------------------------
I have just visited here for the first time and I am so much looking forward to spending more time here. I was really needing a place like this to explore and think. Like others here, I have been generally disappointed at the mediocre level of thinking that characterizes most sites of this ilk. But this is different. Thanks for taking the time to labor in this for _our_ benefit. Keep up the good work, looking forward to reading and wrestling with things to be found here.
-----------------------------------------------
This is really good stuff. I like your approach. This will be the pattern for Christian apologetics for the foreseeable future. I believe many who oppose the gospel do so with a veneer of intellectual pride. To retort in same, I believe, is the way to reach those of the opposers who are actually seeking truth. Unfortunately, there are those who seek to argue for the sake of arguing.
----------------------------
I read a bunch of the stuff on this page. Really good stuff. I commend you on your thorough and logical arguments. Excellent work. I enjoyed it thoroughly. May God bless you and yours.
---------------------------
I check your CTT project very frequently to see if you've updated anything. I really enjoy following your debates and explanations of tough subjects. Recently, your responses to James Still regarding New Testament reliability was useful to me in presenting a defense of NT reliability to a group of skeptics with whom I meet regularly to discuss Christianity.
Keep up the good work and God bless you. Nothing warms my heart like seeing skeptics' arguments against our Lord being conformed to the image of Swiss cheese. :-)
-------------------------------------------
I want to thank you for your kind response. I am using a lynx browser not Netscape so my replies were a little garbled but your replies were quite good as is your website. We need more Christians like you. I believe God made our head for more than a hat rack. It would be nice if you could get chapters going such as friends of Wittgensteins Web.
-----------------------------------------------------
Very nice Mr. Miller!
No death threats here, just good ol' fashioned applause for your web site.
Keep the Faith!!
---------------------------
Hi,
I'm writing this off-line and can't find your page in my cache so I am not sure what you actually called the article, however, it's the one in which you systematically set out the reasons for being a Christian and offer a commitment at the end. You know the one?
I just wanted to say that it is the best I have read for some time. Many thanks for your work. The Christian Thinktank was one of the first Christian sites I came across on my foray into the WWW. I hope and pray that many will come to know and love the Lord through it's challenges.
-----------------------
The articulate, positive, high quality throughout. There is no comparison with the sad American fundamentalism and general pseudo-Christian dross out there.
-------------------------------------------
Thank you very much for an informative page. Many of the resources here I was not familiar with and have proven to be insightful into the information that I was looking for. Thanks a million.
----------------------------------
After flipping through the web pages on yahoo, I discovered, much to my pleasure, your web page. I just wanted to pass along a quick note of encouragement. It makes me happy to see X-ians who are trying to tap into our "post-modern" culture and share the love and truth of Christ in many different areas. One area that I feel is often overlooked or misunderstood by the contemporary church, is apologetics. Thank you for being relevant!
Christian apologetics is somewhat of a (hobby/duty?) of mine. In fact, for the past year and a half I and another teacher have been leading a discussion group that challenges students to think about the great/big/important questions in life. It's not as pretentious as it may sound. The group, while challenging the students, none of which are X-ians, has challenged my faith enormously. I hope that your web page will do the same.
-----------------------
Your spirit, attitude...normal, fun, creative, detailed..
-----------------------------------------------------
your frankness, and lack of timidness in dealing with extremely difficult questions
-------------------------------
I just was stumbling around on the net and found your page. I am VERY impressed - this is the kind of thing that I have been looking for most of my life: real intellectual evidence for Christianity. I am a committed believer and the son of Missionary parents. I am a junior at ZZZ University and will certainly tell the few 'philosophical' friends that I have about this site.
-----------------------------------------
I've talked to you before. I appreciate your love of Jesus Christ...it comes through strong...and it should!!! That's our commonality. I'm downloading all your writing to disk so that I can print it out from a Word Processor. You ought to group your writing according to category and print it under the title: "Musings Of An Intellect"
You use new & interesting words much in the way an artist refers to 'shades/tones' of colors that the uninitiated is unaware of....and in so doing enlarge the scope of understanding and appreciation of same. On the surface it seems a bit much but the more that I read the more I sense the depth of your writing...the more clarity your verbiage imparts.
I hope that this wordy way of showing appreciation is understandable. It's not always easy to see where you're headed, at first, but the concept or idea is never misunderstood...the finale is always worth arriving at. It radiates your love for Jesus and what He's made possible for us.
Thanks for all the work you put into educating us about spiritual matters!
-------------------------------------------------
Great job. I am so tired of hearing how the Internet is the downfall of society. It is encouraging to see you put its awesome connective powers to use.
Responses to well-reasoned questions posed by atheists/agnostics.
------------------------------
This is my first visit. Fine work! The kingdom is advancing because of this. I thank God for the way that He is using you. The one thing that I definitely learned this first time in is that you can't take it all in at once. I've stayed awake as long as I can.
----------------------------
Mr. Miller, I'm fairly new to the NET and came across your site. What a refreshing change from the usual rantings I read from modernists, KJV-only, radical fundies, and aberrant types.
---------------------------
I am thankful for all the time you have poured into this web page. I encourage you to continue its completion and growth. Good work so far and keep it up!
--------------------------------------------------
Thanks again for the great material available at the Think Tank.
I have borrowed your piece on the Trinity and will be using it as a jumping off point in a church college group discussion session.
God bless you in your continuing contribution to the dialogue regarding the Truth.
----------------------------------------------------------
You are rapidly becoming one of my favorite sites on the web.
-------------------------------------------
You are the model to follow! Totally impressed with what you are doing for God.
------------------------------------------------
You are doing God's work and I wish you the best. May the angels of heaven be by your side day and night so that you can continue this ministry.
This site is SUPERCOOL! I believe in the Bible, the WHOLE Bible and nothing but the Bible. What an awesome place to go to reinforce my faith and to find more data to back up God's truth. This is all so rad. And I was afraid that the net would be a huge stumbling block....YEA GOD! You go Christian soldiers. I'm just a little college student in liberal state, U.S.A. and I know tons of unsaved folks surfing the net for anything to base their lives on. I pray that they will find you.
-----------------------------------------
Fantastic site! I especially enjoyed browsing the ongoing discussion concerning the Process of transmitting the WORD from God to us. It's a privilege to read and interact with serious and intellectually rigorous thinkers among the brethren.
--------------------------------------
Thanks for such a great site. I just discovered it. I'm a seeker too and if I were to do a site, yours would be a model. I'll be here often.
---------------------------------------------
Yes, my husband and I both serve Jesus and we have really enjoyed reading your answers. We have often wished for an extensive knowledge such as you have. We have studied quite a bit throughout our walk with the Lord, but it's never enough! We pray that the Lord would continue to use you in His service , you are a real blessing.
-----------------------------------------
From a likeminded 17th century Neanderthal, Thanks for an awesome site!!!!!!!!!! Truly amazing.
---------------------------------------
Sorry that I have not told you earlier that I enjoy your CTT immensely. There are not enough sharp Xians doing this sort of thing. Courage!! Endurance!! Awareness!! Clarity!!
-------------------------------
Your work is greatly appreciated by myself and many others.
---------------------------------------
I must visit your web site almost every day and I think I've read almost everything. I especially look forward to Mondays, since you seem to update the site on the weekend. The feeling I get is equal to receiving a monthly magazine subscription I am anxiously waiting for.
-------------------------------------
I have spent hours pouring through your pages and each session is more delightful than the next (with the exception of my first visit, the excitement of which cannot be duplicated or surpassed). Why? Specifically? I suppose it is because I have a scholar's heart/desire yet not the time. Your pages are food for my brain that I do not have to grow, nurture, or weed, I get to harvest all your hard work, think about it and spout back some quick response to your tedious hours of research. I hope this communicates how much I appreciate your work.
-------------------------------------
Thanks for putting together one of the most outstanding WWW pages that I've ever come across!
---------------------------------
Thank you so much for sharing with others the wonderful things that God has shown you. I really appreciate the humor, wisdom, understanding, insight, openness, and honesty that you leave on these web pages. Keep up the great work brother!
-----------------------------------------------
The fact that ideas and questions are welcomed from all I really appreciate the fact that comers from all angles and all beliefs are welcome. I get incredibly tired of seeing what purports to be Christian 'thinking' in the evangelical world be more reflexive than thoughtful, and your pages are a happy exception to that. Two examples: creation 'science' advocates seem to draw the circle of belief around their own (narrow) view of Genesis 1&2 and insist on a young earth and young universe. I am a believing Christian, but I fall outside that circle and am, therefore, subject to their ideological wrath. I find the same sort of 'crusader' mentality among the presuppositionalists, and I have honest disagreements with them as well. I'm really glad to see your refreshingly open and thoughtful approach to issues of life and faith.
---------------------------------------------
I have just begun scanning your pages, and so far I find the information-and your opinions- compelling for their homogeneity with mine. That's a little presumptuous since (as I've said) I've only begun scanning, but I spend a great deal of time isolating epistemology and paradigm structures in the erection of knowledge systems, and it is -at least- evident that you do the same.
-----------------------------------
Just recently found your web page. God bless you for your efforts! Lot's of good stuff there. Some of which, I am writing to inquire if I may download, and post within the ZZZ, (kind of an online bulletin board), as currently, I am having discussions with atheists, and others, and your material could be really helpful in helping them see what is needed to be seen.
May God continue to use you in reaching "all the world" with His good news!
----------------------------------------------------
What a great web site, there's enough here to keep me occupied for weeks! As a Christian, who is also an intellectual, I have noticed the great dearth of such material on the web, and I applaud your efforts.
Keep on doing what you are doing, I'll point all future skeptics in your direction.
-------------------------------------------------------------
I can't tell you how GREATLY I appreciate your site! I've looked through most of it and I've down loaded parts of it and have even printed some things out so I could take them with me to read throughout the day. Thank you for allowing God to use you and for taking the time to work on the web site and devote so much time to support it.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I am relatively new to the internet, and am in love with my savior Jesus Christ and am deeply committed to learning all I can. Your web page is the most interesting page I have yet seen. I never fail to be stimulated by your visitors thought provoking questions or your well reasoned answers. As the lone believer in a family of over-educated skeptics, I find new insights to difficult ( but it seems common) questions. God Bless your ministry, keep up the good work. I refer my dogmatically atheistic brother to your page all the time, but as of yet I think he still has his head stuck deeply in the sand.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you very much for your VERY SPECIAL webpage. I am learning a lot from you and it will certainly help me to be better equipped in witnessing to my fellow students. Your "letters from the man behind the curtain" makes the page personal and visitor-friendly. These letters (together with your prayer requests) also show me what I can pray for you. If ever you are in need of urgent prayer and it is stuff you can entrust to a fellow Christian which you do not know, you can mail me anytime.
Thanks again for your selfless effort in this Thinktank
--------------------------------------------------------------------
I have no idea who you are, but I just finished my first visit to your webpage or homepage or what ever you call it. The experience was really something! I mean that in a positive sense and am having trouble finding a suitable adjective. Thank you for giving me a chance to exercise my brain on this life or death subject. I enjoy this kind of examination because I learn so much and end up with more questions that need answering. Thanks again.
-------------------------------------------------------------
You have a very extensive wonderful page. I am a student at ZZZ College in ZZZ. I am a philosophy major with minors in Greek and religion. I am a member of the Baha'i faith and the Unitarian Universalist church, so obviously we don't agree about everything, but I just wanted to congratulate you on a wonderful, extensive web page. It's the best I've seen on the net so far. Nice work!
---------------------------------------------------
hey gmiller - WOW is all I can say! I just "happened" upon your WONDERFUL web site and am blown away!! I could spend gobs of hours reading all this wonderful stuff! I spent some time reviewing ravi zacharias' web page which is just so fascinating to me! I am a NEOPHITE philosophy student (albeit a "non-traditional" read: OLD) and I must admit my ignorance about a WHOLE LOT OF THIS STUFF!! BUTTTTTTTT --i just LOVE IT!! I love reading it and I love thinking about it and I love having my faith challenged! (although i'm not too certain how well I do defending it!) anyway, I just want you to know how very, very, very, very glad I was to have "stumbled" across your site!! I only had a chance to read a tiny little fraction of what you have put together, but I most certainly look forward to many future hours of being intellectually and spiritually stimulated!
thanks for the ride, oh captain!! ENGAGE!!!
----------------------------------------------------------
I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much I enjoyed reading your new essay on the faith for that person who wrote to you of how frustrated he/she was with trying to come to believe in Christ. ...
I have other friends who are frequent visitors to your think tank, but nevertheless, while believers, are experiencing difficulties with their faith. It is tough in these post-modern times to do so, I believe. That's why I wanted to drop you this line and let you know that I think that this most recent article/essay will be very helpful for both those like the original inquirer, who can hardly spell much less reason as closely as say, an Alvin Plantinga, and for those of us who are maybe a little more 'sophisticated' [I sound arrogant here, don't I?], but who still wrestle from day to day with belief in this grandest of stories.
Keep writing such good stuff! The love is evident in your writing style, Glenn. I really appreciate that you are still able to maintain such a warmth and faith in the light of all your philosophical engagements. I am a philosophy major myself, and it is depressing sometimes to see the way that so many otherwise faithful people slip into nihilism and agnosticism the deeper they delve into logic. I especially enjoyed your statement that "...God is not just the conclusion at the end of a syllogism." That's a classic if I ever heard one! Take care and may the Lord bless you and your work on the Think Tank. It's enriched my own floundering faith on more than one occasion in the past year.
---------------------------------
I absolutely love the level of detail you go into. Your essays are challenging without being obscure, encouraging, and display a gentle sense of humor. Thank you!
-------------------------
You are doing great work here, please keep it up. Having often searched apologetics web sites for debates, I can honestly say that yours is the best on the Internet.
----------------------------------------------
This is great!!! I'm so excited to have found your page. I've read through your "personal tract", your light-bulb jokes(yuk yuk) and your correspondence with the person asking how to decide what religion or what revelation to believe. I realize that there is tons more here, but I am a poor college student with even less time than money. But I wanted to email to say that your stuff is very helpful, and I much appreciate it. :)
----------------------------------------------------
I agree with the Stills fellow. Your site is the best. It is accessible, goes into the necessary detail needed for believability yet is readable for the lay person. I pray for your health and your ability to find time to continue working on this site. You have a nice touch in handling your inquires...I thought your long winded defense of the faith was excellent and funny to boot. Something I would be proud to share with any intellectual on the edge of faith.
---------------------------------------------------------
I recently discovered your web page. I was delighted to make the discovery and immensely impressed with it's content. Of course I have not yet explored the plethora of information which you have taken the time to provide. It is obvious that keeping up the site has become more than a hobby for you. Your attention to detail and your thorough answers to the questions which have been asked shows a genuine interest of the material and a real desire to be of help to the inquirers. Your intelligence is evident throughout all that I have read.
-----------------------------------------------
Glen, I love your website! Having visited numerous pro-atheist sites, and several Christian/apologist sites, I am uplifted and confirmed in my faith! Most atheist sites I've visited are filled with abstract gymnastic arguments which make no sense, loud shouting about evolution, and diatribes about so-called inconsistencies in the Bible, most of which could be easily refuted by any Bible scholar. On sites such as your, however, I have found solid facts, given in a loving spirit. Keep it up!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
My name is zzz... Your research and scholarship has been a tremendous resource to me from the very beginning of my Christian life until today. When I first committed my life to Christ (back in early 1994), I remember stumbling across your website and spending hours reading the wealth of information posted. I was enrolled in an Old Testament class at my school (ZZZ), through which I was exposed to the documentary hypothesis and many critical responses (ridicules) of the Bible. However, the class only served to strengthen my faith and establish an unshakable trust in the Scriptures. The information posted on your website proved to be invaluable, as time and again I discovered that there were good answers to any questions people might ask. Throughout the past 5 years, the grace of God has abounded in my life, and He has enabled me to teach in my church throughout the past three years.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I recently stumbled across this site and just thought I would drop a note of my appreciation for this site. It is good that we have people like you on the web to show how rational, logical and utterly TRUTHFUL the message of God is. I go to the University of ZZZ and have referred many an atheist and grad student to your site. Good luck and God Bless.
------------------------------------------------------
I thank God for using you so splendidly in the ThinkTank. "... you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints."
Your site is an oasis of truth in the WWW desert of skepticism. Poetic, or what! ;-)
-------------------------------------------
You probably won't see this for a while, but I just wanted to tell you that I appreciate your web site and all the work you put into answering the "tough" questions. I have referred to your site many times now to get answers that I inevitably get asked while hosting in a chat room... Defending the faith is a fun task and it's interesting to "engage" one's mind when discussing faith, but I sure don't have maybe the ability or patience that you do to dig into the reasoning behind why we believe. It's nice to see thinking, rational reasons for an irrational faith, when most of the time the answers I see are pure Christian jargon and emotion-babble. Sure, some people are won to the Lord via an emotional appeal and later may develop a reasoned faith in Christ, but I guess I am attracted to the hardened, intellectual skeptic -- maybe because I think the same way. ;-)
------------------------------------------------
Let me also say that I find the resource of this site https://www.Christianthinktank.com/ VERY refreshing in that it answers questions from BOTH sides of an issue and uses calm, clear reasoning and fact to cogently address the questions posed. I do not want to inflate your ego so much as I wish to let you know how much I appreciate your honest skepticism on issues and the amount of detail and sound reasoning you use to arrive at your conclusions. It is OK to question and to allow those who do question to present their side, but still examine the issues with the questioners position fully in mind and not so much try to refute them and 'put them in their place' as seems to be somewhat common on the web. I admit my guilt in getting into that habit myself. It does little good and some bad to treat honest inquiries in this manner. You seem to have a style that respects the questioner, addresses the question, acknowledges their good points, but shows the reasonable- and unreasonable-ness of their position without demeaning the questioner. Thank you for this site and your style of presentation of issues. God Bless you in your continued ministry.
------------------------------------------------------------
Great stuff! It's great to see Christians who love the Lord with "all their mind". Unfortunately, for every one of you, there are about a hundred others, who hold the misplaced conviction that "childlike" faith means "childish" faith. I have found that it is best to leave them to their own counsel, as reason rarely works.
You are doing a great job of defending the faith. (I've recently had an individual ask me if the term Christian apologetics meant we are apologizing for Christianity. Christianity? No. Christians? Yes.) I appreciate your thoroughness, (The cited references took me back to the horrors of university).
---------------------------------------------
I "stumbled" onto your website and liked what I saw. In fact, I printed out several articles and brought them with me to read to my wife at the table as we went out to dinner the other night. [Not really very romantic, but we both enjoyed what you had to say.] Congratulations, and thanks.
---------------------------------------------------
I'd like to take this opportunity to compliment your apologetical style: You prudently avoid rhetorical excesses, make little use of dramatic effect except where warranted by the surety of a conclusion, candidly consider how an opponent's thesis could have carried more force and honestly voice possible objections to your presumptions and conclusions.
The combination of these traits (or deliberate disciplines?) of yours with your obvious depth of scholarship makes all the more convincing what would already be plausible arguments for Christian Theism; you show genuine concern for the integrity of all relevant *data*, not just that the conclusions which can be drawn from it support the Christian thesis.
Thanks again... your work at the Tank is an inspiration to me, and my passion at my home church is to recruit a small army of apologists to help un-skew the overall appearance of skeptical groups on the Usenet. You have set the bar high for those who would engage in information-age evangelism, and in doing so will cause us to train all the harder in our efforts to speak the truth in love.
--------------------------------------------------
I am ZZZ and was searching for info on Women in the Bible to use in the adult Bible class that I am teaching. I found your Women in the Heart of God series and find it to be extremely helpful. Thanks so much. By the way, even though I don't have the formal training that you do, there are those of us around whose basic nature in the scientific/math based way of thinking and who are also Christian and many times stir up the pot because of it. Thanks for the website. I believe that I will use it often.
--------------------------------------------------
Wow! I just spent my 2nd night at this site, and it just gets better and better. You are a part of my prayer list, Glenn. May God work his will in your life!
------------------------------------------
Your arguments are intelligent and thought-provoking. You are willing to take on subjects most people treat like the plague.
You are obviously well-versed, treat the Word of God with respect, and are honest to the point of self-embarrassment. You write and present your information honestly, admitting your ignorance when necessary.
------------------------------------------------------------
I hope that I am writing to the correct person....
I just wanted to send my thanks. I just read the article on Paul and Women about the controversial Pauline passages. I commend you on an exhaustive study and for presenting it so clearly.
I have been a dedicated Christian since 1990 and went to a bible college as a result of a strong sense of God's calling in my life. I studied Psychology (major) and Religion (minor) in undergrad and Marriage and Family counseling in graduate school. I took a course titled Women in the ministry while in college where my interest this topic got peaked. At that time I came away with answers to my questions about these difficult passages. But I hadn't thought about it in a while.....until just recently when a man questioned my authority to teach a bible study through my church.
Since then, I have gone back into all of the literature I could get my hands on and have refreshed my memory about these topics. I have looked at TONS of information (there seems to be far more now than just seven years ago). I came across your article and was amazed. I hadn't seen it laid out like that nor had I seen such depth in the study.
All of this to say. Thank you. It is quite liberating to understand Paul's words for what they were meant to be instead of as a painful, restrictive weapon.
--------------------------------------------------------
This is e-mail number two from me. I have been reading through your web site and I have been so encouraged! I have been struggling for some time about what I should do with my life. I have a BA from a VERY conservative Bible college in Bible/Missions and I feel keenly that I should be involved in ministry, but not in the typical sense of the term. I recently began feeling that God is guiding me toward working on a PhD in Philosophy, but you can imagine my doubts after years of hearing that Philosophy is evil and that it is "worldly wisdom". After seeing what God can do through intelligent Christians who can elucidate their beliefs at a high level, I feel more confident than ever that my feeling (however existential it may be) is right, and that I should pursue this area of study. Thanks for taking the time to present this web page.
---------------------------------
I am impressed by the scope and that, apparently, one individual manages to run it. May the Lord enable you to continue. I have been prowling around many "Christian" sites and am impressed by the freshness of this one. So far I have only read one of your papers ("A slow paced, long winded...") which seem sufficiently good and fresh that I will send a copy to my 89 yr. old mother in hopes that it will be used by the Lord for her salvation. So far nothing else has made any impression including her son (me!).
------------------------------
Thank you so much for this outstanding site! Interesting and informative, especially when skeptics ask all sorts of questions about the New Testament. They aren't sincere, just trying to trip me up and think I'm a foolish Christian.
I'm conservative Roman Catholic and have quite a few fellows I depend on in my church, but always looking for fresh insights and intelligent, vigorous defense of Christianity, and you do put that out wonderfully.
---------------------------------------------------------
I just stumbled across your page tonight for the first time. Its 3 a.m. now, guess I kinda got into it eh? But this is great. I tend to be the intellectual sort of Christian, and I am surrounded by a sea of anti-intellectualism in my immediate Christian surroundings. So your page is an oasis I think. Thanks for the efforts.
-----------------------------------------------------------
First, I want to thank you for such an awesome website. As a Christian, I enjoy seeing someone so earnestly contend for the faith. As a person interested in apologetics, I am amazed by your grasp of Biblical and extra-Biblical doctrine.
As I said before, I truly enjoy reading your answers to the questions posed by visitors to your site. Your combination of scholarship and wit is very refreshing.
Again, thanks for putting up a powerful website. I also commend you for raising such beautiful children through some difficult circumstances. You demonstrate that single fathers CAN be good fathers. Take care and may God continue to bless you.
-----------------------------------
I am loving your web site. I'm a 40-yr-old Christian woman who has begun to develop a passion for Bible scholarship and I can't seem to get enough. In these times, we need to be able to give solid background to be a good witness to some people. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to do all of this. This is a tremendous help to me.
-----------------------------------------
I'm glad I found this. For various personal reasons, I am questioning my basic assumptions/position on faith and am looking for as many different perspectives as I can, hoping to find something to get it all to make some sort of sense. This sight offered me a new point of view, and I appreciate it.
Your approach. I find it refreshing to see you go into such depth in a topic about which you obviously feel very strongly, while remaining polite to those who do not agree. While I may not agree with your conclusions (I feel that you sometimes make some basic assumptions for granted in your analyses), I am impressed with your presentation.
I also like the fact that you added links to skeptic web sites. My biggest "pet peeve" regarding faith is people taking the faith in which they were raised for granted. If a person has really thought about WHY they have faith, I have no problem with them. Merely practicing a belief because it is what your Mom and Dad did is not faith. It is habit. Adding opposing viewpoints allows people to make the decision for themselves. If one's faith is real, it can withstand questioning.
-------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your website. In the midst of many, your 'voice' on the web presents well researched, fair and comprehensive analysis of very tough questions. I appreciate very much your efforts. Recently, I have been on a messageboard in Australia debating and sometimes arguing with an atheist/skeptic/anti-supernaturalist/etc. and haggling with 2 people over the resurrection. The volume and tenor of their comments and claims can dishearten and amaze. Having your site to come to as reference when they ask tough questions has been a God send.
------------------------------------------------------
First of all, let me say how impressed I am both with your site and with the amount and rigor of thought you have spent on the issues discussed herein.
--------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for you work and ministry on the Tank. Again, it is a pleasure to find someone who takes the claims of those skeptical of Christianity seriously enough to present a reasonable and well researched response to tough questions that seem to confuse and silence Christians and proponents of its claims. God bless you in your future work.
----------------------------------------------
I found Glen's thinking and writing most interesting. I have found very little intellectual kinship in the world and thought that most of my questions were not answerable. After reading a few of Glen's words I realize that unanswered questions will remain, but Glen has done the kind of exhaustive philosophical/linguistic/psychological analysis that my mind requires in answering some of my questions. I realize now that there are people who are as ruthless with assumptions as I am. Thank you Glen!
-------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your professional, scholarly and winsome treatment of the subjects contained on your webpage. I came across it by accident (well, to me it was by accident) but found myself thoroughly enjoying it.
I appreciated not only your commitment to intellectual honesty as well as your meticulous research, but also your attitude of humility in dealing with these issues. As a fellow Christian, I learned not only a great deal about the arguments and the issues involved, but how to engage folks in a manner that honors our Lord. I believe you do that exceedingly well, and are to be commended for it.
-----------------------------------
I want to thank for the quality effort I see on your site. I am pleased to see the hard work that you do in answer skeptical questions. I have recommended your site to others who are interested in giving solid answers to those who ask about the faith. The "Hall of Arguments" is your best effort particularly the "Copy-Cat Savior" area. I see all too much on skeptical sites outdated works like Graves and Wheeless, for example. Thank you for making your scholarly efforts available to Christians like myself who do not have access to hard-to-get resources. This is the way the Internet should be used in that arguments can be compared and seen which one has the most basis for it.

In searching for some topical material for the adult Sunday School class I teach, I came across your booklet which addresses business people. I appreciate your approach, and will be using many of your points to lead a discussion relating to "Faith in an Unbelieving World" - something like that. The group I teach are mature believers - Mennonites, mainly -who have been quietly walking their faith for as long as I've been around (50 years). Your article provides more than enough intellectually stimulating material to keep us engaged in lively discussion...Kudos on a well written piece. And, a million years from now, I look forward to sitting on a park bench in Heaven and chatting with you.

I am tired of being fed milk. I want to get into the meat of what I believe. I find local pastors are unable or unwilling to leave the warm fuzzy sanctuaries complete with air-conditioning and padded pews. I find what you have to say to be Biblically based, however your education and knowledge of the world makes it relevant to today's world.
-----------------------------------------------
Your site has been a tremendous help to me, and I thank you very much!!!
I particularly appreciate your humble and loving attitude to apologetics; in most sites I have visited the discussion is very mean spirited, and unfortunately the "Christians" don't seem any more loving than the atheists.
-------------------------------------------------------
One can only be impressed by the quality and sheer scale of your work, indeed the CTT comprises some of the best apologetics I have seen this side of Lewis. Your site almost makes up for all the rubbish one has to wade through on the Web ! God Bless, and keep up the good work !
-------------------------------------------------
I think your web page is awesome. . . the best one--most informative--that I've found.
----------------------------------------------
[Someone one copied me on this email comment]:
I wouldn't send a newbie here (to the Tank), but you might want to visit this site. They tackle "knots".----------------------------------------------------
Your thoughtful, well laid out analyses of peoples questions. I find your approach very "scientific" in nature, and I frequently check back for your updates. I believe you put a lot of care and consideration into your writing, and respect your desire to aid others in the desire to know the Lord.

I was so pleased to find your site - it's so good to be able to read such sound apologetics in the midst of all the usual anti-Christianity stuff that's on the web.
I think that Christians need to be taught so much of the intellectual grounding for their faith in order to be able stand up against the atheism and New agey-ness that's so popular now! It's great the way in which Christians and atheists are able to take part in amicable debate about faith because of the service you're providing.

Greetings. Thank you for your kind concern Mr Glen Miller. Indeed my question to the genealogy of Jesus was answered powerfully, wonderfully, breath-takingly, excellently,.....
-------------------------------------------
I wanted to offer a word of encouragement to you because of the great work you have done at your web site. Apologetics are very important to me and I am glad that there are people like you who have dedicated their lives to filling the void that unfortunately, most Christians allow to become the status quo in their lives. I have been a Christian since 1974 and have seen both sides of the spectrum, believe me, and I am sure there are a lot more things that God is going to show me, and you too. I have debated evolutionists and JWs and atheist and others and usually win the debate but that is not what I really want to do. I have compassion in my heart for these people but the thrill of the debate overwhelms me and I want to win at all costs. It would be better for me to deliver my message in a "cold" medium such as the net. I am setting up my own web page that will definitely have a link to your site. I want to preach Jesus Christ and let the power of the gospel itself do the convincing. I know we are to have an answer to every man for the hope that lies within us and we are to be like the Bereans but I have studied out the kazoo and I have not reached the level of your mastery of biblical history. Maybe someday if I keep reading your stuff.
-----------------------------------
I have checked many sites ...have spoken with ZZZ personally, and have examined many authors en route to my theology degree, but truly admire your thinking.
----------------------------------------
I just visited your apologetics website, and my head is still spinning! Finally, a Christian-oriented, science/philosophy/Bible-study page that "goes the distance" intellectually! ... I read some of your material in the (updated) immateriality-of-the-soul section, and I found some of the quotes fascinating; the implications for strict materialism look pretty dire.
------------------------------
I really enjoy this site. I'm one of those "intellectual Christians" who really like delving into the issues and attempting to sort out tough questions that non-believers pose to me. Thanks for the resources and it makes me happy to see that there are other Christians out there like me....everything! I really enjoy all the apologetics and the way it all makes me think... I even enjoy the slams you get :) I like seeing how immature most people who object to Christianity can be - it's amazing how most resort to personal slanders instead of the actual issues...
-------------------------------------------------------
This is the best mix of philosophical viewpoints and religious viewpoints, and I've gotta say I'm impressed. Usually when someone (or some organization) claim to analyze Christianity from a philosophical viewpoint, it is done so in an overly agnostic manner, with the full intent (declared or not) of debunking Christianity. Your approach is appreciated.
-----------------------------------------------------
By means of an 'Apologetics' search through the internet I came upon your site - the think tank, I believe. I would first like to say thank you for all of the information and dialogue you make available. Mostly, I appreciate that it is a sincere and honest pursuit of truth.
-----------------------------------------
I happened upon your sight on the Late evening of January 1, 1998. The year has began well. I was searching for information that would be good to use in a course that I teach on Religions in America Your sight is awesome! Please keep up the great work
--------------------------------
I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your "Christian Think-Tank" web page. I have found more good information here than all other "Christian" web pages combined.
--------------------------------------------
Since I became a Christian, I have looked for answers to the tough questions. I guess I have convinced my heart to be a Christian, but my mind is slow to respond. Your site addresses many of the same questions I am reluctant to ask my pastor or other Christian friends. I will be reading many of your "basic" pages. You address the fundamentals in a straightforward and readable way. I like that accessibility, and the anonymity to not feel stupid for asking questions.
-------------------------------------
I've visited your page a couple (more like: lots) of times and thought I'd write a couple of words as encouragement. I think you're doing a really great job. It feels great as a Christian to be reading your pages. Thank you very much for being a good Christian in the net and providing both me, as a Christian, and others who don't believe both great answers and something to think about.
----------------------------------
I am awed by your scholarship, and just the sheer amount of stuff you accomplish throughout the course of your life. I am smart enough to follow most of what you say, and smart enough to see just how much brain power and discipline you have.
I am extremely gratified that you have chosen to spend your time and energy on this type of scholarship, and I have drunk deep and been satisfied. Hugh Ross has also had this effect on me, especially "Creator and the Cosmos," as well as "Beyond the Cosmos." Honorable Mention goes to Phillip Johnson for "Darwin On Trial."
Naturally, the only thing I could want is *more*, so keep up the good work. My favorite article is the Nextseat discourse. It is perfect for introducing someone to Christ, or for helping new believers become better grounded.
-----------------------------------------
I am captivated by your "Competing revelations" segments. I feel like I'm right next to you on that doorstep, talking (and sometimes jesting!) with all those "contestants". I look forward to the conclusion.
-------------------------------------------------------------
I was surfing for Ebla and the Documentary Hypothesis. And there was your think tank. Wow. Abba, this is too good to be true. What's the catch? He's some kind of neo-gnostic? Nope, looks like your child from the testimony. Look at that schooling. Yipes. THAT's intimidating. Keeps mentioning his kids, ah, there it is -- divorce. The big "D". Good, he probably understands grace then too. Useable stuff on the Documentary hypothesis. There's probably a human behind all these words.
Great ministry you've got here! Don't get discouraged; this is cutting edge.
-------------------------------------------------------
You've got a terrific page! I'm an historian with decidedly "epistimelogical leanings" (read: I love philosophical theism with an eye toward apologetics), I'm just not very good at it... But don't let my inadequacies color the degree of pride you should feel at my compliments -- we should be glad even when the tone deaf praise Bach!
Seriously, the Think Tank is a good resource -- lots of info and good links.
--------------------------------------------------------
Christian here- for 30+ years. The article on Those Not Having heard the Gospel was one of the best discourses on the subject I ever read.... extremely well reasoned and well backed up by the word. Great work !
-------------------------------------------------------------------
When I first got access to the Web in April '97 I wanted to find what was available on Christianity on the web. I put myself in the position of a searcher/seeker and thought "if I wanted to know about Christianity, what would I find on the web? Hopefully something that represented orthodox Christianity - ie. not just individual churches or worse still the "lunatic fringe" pushing a particular denominational/sect line, but a statement of what basic Christianity is, and the opportunity to question and debate and find something helpful on the Web. I was very disappointed, there did not seem to be anything other than invitations to join various churches, mostly Southern Baptist! - nothing wrong with that, but I live in ZZZ Australia and our Christianity seems to be "packaged" a bit differently here! Anyway, I thought that there wasn't much of substance, and I found that pretty disappointing because the Web is such a good medium to present ideas and promote thought/discussion ( and I wanted to see a page glorifying Jesus, I must admit!)
Anyway, it's now the end of October. I was sitting at my desk yesterday and thought I'd look at some jokes. There was a link to your page! I have been enjoying the contents of it in my spare time today.
The Range of material that appeals to "thinkers" - both Christian and non-Christian. Even the fact that there are one or two nasty comments that you have allowed in - this shows that you are not afraid of "violent" dissention! It's great to have answers to questions, jokes, long rambly stuff for when people need that, shorter answers to specific questions, readers' material, etc. Well done.
----------------------------------------------------
Let me thank you for an excellent website. It one of the best Christian websites in my opinion. Intellectual challenges to faith abound and I thank you for assisting people to try and meet some of these challenges.
--------------------------------------------
I've found myself "down loading quite a bit of pieces every week to send to several pastors that are friends ..use the info in my own ministries and share with others...actually, I've put this "think tank" on my prayer list. that God would have you continue, keep you healthy, and make a way for this to be available to more believers..{and of course non-s}..
---------------------------------------------------------
The PASSION you have for finding the truth, and not being flimflammed by secularists, liberals, or fundamentalists.
------------------------------------------
Glenn - Hello! I have just recently found your webpage and was immediately sucked into the vortex! I really cannot believe the amount of material you have written on virtually every subject that perplexes me and have been fascinated with all my life. Not only is the page a source of jumping points for meditation, there seems to be some great stuff to bolster my discussions with skeptic/atheist friends at work. I hope to be able to spend more time reading here.
----------------------------------------------------------
i believe that you would have become a great pastor. actually the way you are dealing with theological, philosophical and pastoral ( say individual cure of souls) is what I would expect ( wishful thinking?) from a 20th century pastor...
your way of treating issues of faith and belief and your ability to find suitable examples to make complicated issues easier to understand and your tendency to include linguistic research into the search for wisdom and your ability to analyze the psychological and epistemological structure of the will to believe...and the openness to all kind of approaches to issues of faith and the willingness to frankly and fairly discuss other points of view and the humour and wit to be able to enjoy good jokes
i guess the more I browse in your site the more I will become excited.
------------------------------------------------------
I would just like to congratulate you on a very very good website. I'm something of an amateur apologist and as such have been disappointed with many different apologetical sites that either argue moot or old points or use moot or out of date arguments or dishonest methodologies to prove their point. This site did none of that for what I saw. The arguments were compelling, the documentation well-preserved.
-----------------------------------------------------
Hi! Thanks for all your work. I like your Scripture study on Jesus as Friend.
------------------------------------
Thanks very, very much for such a clear, and unambiguous answer.I was
indeed missing something. As in so many cases God's word is right again.
Easy though to stumble badly, just for lack of a little light.
